My Background

David Alexander, M.S., LPC has a Master's Degree in Counseling from Georgia State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He studied at the Atlanta Art Institute (now SCAD), the University of Texas in Austin, the University of Georgia in Athens, and Georgia State University. His private practice specializes in family, individual and parenting concerns. He has been practicing in the Atlanta area since 1987. 

David spent his early career working with the Georgia Mental Health Institute as an inpatient treatment coordinator, advocate and therapist for children and teens.

Areas of specialties include ADHD, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Depression, Divorce, Learning differences, Mood disorders, Mourning/Grieving, OCD, Parenting Plan Development, parenting Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and PTSD.

David has taken an active role in developing and providing specialized counseling resources and training for; domestic law professionals, mental health providers, parents, religious organizations, and for teachers.

David has presented both locally and nationally on sandplay therapy, co-parenting and working with high conflict families. David has been on multiple boards, committees and groups working to promote mental health awareness, including the Atlanta Collaborative Divorce Alliance, the Collaborative Law Institute of Georgia, the Center for Navigating Family Changes. David lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife and they have three adult children.
